About

Mongena Game Lodge is a favourite for local and international guests to visit for sightings of the Big 5 (Elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard, lion) on safari game drives and guided walks in the malaria-free African bush.

The 4 star Lodge offers an outstanding bush safari for the international business or leisure traveller. Lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard, cheetah, zebra, hippo, crocodile, giraffe, all antelope species, warthogs, aardvark, brown hyena, aardwolf and splendid birdwatching makes for excellent game viewing in the distinctive African bush.

Due to its easy access from the N1 as well as being close to JNB and PTA, Mongena has become a popular day tour destination for guided game drives, guided bush walks, sunset cruises and amazing hearty meal offerings at Tshukudu Restaurant and Kingfisher Restaurant..

The lodge prides itself on a 28 hectare scenic dam flanked by the Pienaars- and Boekenhout rivers where sunset cruises are offered. The exquisite Fisheagle boathouse venue is available for private functions and boma dinners for groups only.

There is a state-of-the art conference centre, with boardrooms for focus groups, and an a la carte scrumptious menu, from which to dine like kings and queens, at the Kingfisher Restaurant. Bush weddings are very popular at Mongena, offering great photo opportunities with the Big 5, along with a romantic wedding chapel completes the unique offerings at Mongena’s the main camp.

Mongena is named after the Boekenhout tree, which is indigenous to the Dinokeng area. The tame Zebra's, Nyala's and Springbucks residing in the main camp are delighting all guests with their presence and have become a favourite trademark of Mongena.
